Value Chain Analysis for Development (VCA4D) - Phase III

Published
Published 17 December 2025

Overview

Agricultural value chains are expected to play a significant role in contributing to the Global Gateway by fostering sustainable economic growth, enhancing food security, and supporting climate resilience in partner countries. As the Global Gateway seeks to mobilize up to €300 billion in investments to boost smart, clean, and secure connections across sectors, agricultural value chains offer a pathway to leverage both public and private investments for transformative impact. Analysing value chain through the VCA4D methodology, is thus pivotal to acquire evidence-based information and quantitative baselines to make sure investments promote sustainability and inclusiveness of value chains, and reduce reputational risks linked to such investments. Capacity to produce independent evidence-based information knowledge on value chains is therefore pivotal to draw lessons for action, innovation and accountability, and to ensure sustainable benefits for the poor and most vulnerable. The “Value Chain Analysis for Development Phase III” (VCA4D) aims to support the inclusive and sustainable development of agricultural value chains in partner countries by delivering high-quality, evidence-based analyses and fostering stakeholder capacity.
