Footpath 33 Repair and Improvement Works
- Published
- Published 3 June 2026
Overview
Finchampstead Parish Council sought quotations from local suppliers for improvement works to Footpath 33, running south-west from Longwater Lane. The route forms part of the Blackwater Valley Trail and is a popular walking route, but it frequently becomes muddy and waterlogged, particularly during winter, and is difficult for people with limited mobility to use.
The works comprise an upgrade to the section of Footpath 33 from Longwater Lane to the spur at Footpath 29, which branches west towards Fleet Hill Farm. The improvement works include the construction of a new, more durable surface using hardcore and gravel, drainage improvements, and associated works to improve the resilience and accessibility of the path. The path will be constructed to bridleway standards for long-term durability, although its legal status will not change and it will remain a public footpath.
The contractor is required to supply all labour, plant, materials and equipment necessary to complete the works safely and in accordance with the agreed quotation/specification.
