Overview

The council is seeking the production of a new SFRA to support the production of a new local plan, taking into account changes that have occurred since previous studies were carried out, such as: Responding to the climate emergency, declared by the council; Changes to the legislative and national policy framework, including updates to the NPPF and PPG; Compliance with the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and in particular Schedule 3 in 2024 (SUDs), and Environment Agency’s updated national risk information for flooding and coastal erosion. This includes future scenarios accounting for climate change. The successful consultants must be mindful of any forthcoming updates to national flood and coastal erosion risk information (including new NaFRA2 and NCERM data in January 2025, and new NaFRA2 flood zone data anticipated in Spring 2025 . The Environment Act 2021, and the requirement for responsible authorities to produce a Local Nature Recovery Strategy; Taking into account development that has been implemented, or planned, within the borough.
