The requirement is for a central gazetteer containing location-based data; recording the history of locations over time and allowing users to edit/annotate locations as their needs dictate. This is for integration into numerous other operational applications to ensure that all users are referring to the same location, reducing data duplication and administrative overheads. Compass Gazetteer provides the central gazetteer and Affinity is a data cleansing tool, used to improve data quality prior to bulk data imports into compass.
