T0625 Sustainable Geotechnical Measures: Comparative Life Cycle Assessment Part 2

Published
Published 30 January 2025
Deadline
Closed 18 November 2024

Overview

This task will continue the work previously carried out under TO-348, which carried out life cycle carbon cost assessments of commonly used SGMs on the network; this may include different solution types not previously considered (e.g. crib walls, sheet piled walls) as well as other low carbon options currently rarely used; this may involve liaison with manufacturers to discuss carbon reduction, recycling etc. In addition, SGM's associated with widening techniques shall be considered, especially for embankments (e.g. mass concrete walls, crib walls, sheet piles, reinforced soil). If it is considered viable, a simple carbon comparison tool will be produced, to enable a quick, high-level assessment of environmental impact of SGM's to be made.
